Lucia Ybarra

After graduating with a degree in Art History from Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Ybarra went on to accrue experience in cultural management, producing projects and curating exhibitions. She joined Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid from 1995 to 2011 as chief exhibition coordinator and chief liaison officer for touring exhibitions, where she oversaw many exhibition projects with other Spanish and international museums, working alongside renowned artists and curators in the contemporary art world.

Cofounder and partner, together with Rosina Gómez-Baeza, of YGBArt Art Advisory and Management, a cultural engineering, mediation and management company, in January 2012. At YGBART she conceives and supervises the integral development of projects and advisory services for public and private institutions like the Regional Government of Extremadura, Museo Reina Sofía, Fundación Arte y Mecenazgo de La Caixa, Fundación Banco Santander, the Region of Madrid, Universidad Internacional Menéndez Pelayo in Santander and Fundación Caja de Extremadura among others. She also oversees the management and conservation of a major private collection of Spanish art.

Cofounder of Factoría Cultural, the incubator of creative industries with headquarters in Madrid and in Murcia. From January 2013 until March 2019 she held the post of Vice-president and Director of External Relations. She was responsible for driving forward the development of activities to promote creative entrepreneurship, defining strategic lines in conjunction with the Managing Committee and representing Factoría Cultural in national and international organisations. She also promotes the creation of networks in the field of cultural and creative industries in Spain and in Europe, as a member of the European Creative Hubs Network. She has led programs of sectorial grants like EmprendeModa, EmprendeArquitectura, EmprendeTurismo, EmprendeArte y Salud and EmprendeArtesania, in which she continues as a member of the respective juries. At the same time, she has directed the Experts Forum Program. She also advises resident projects on cultural issues.

Since September 2015 she is a member of the board of ADA (Asociación de Derecho del Arte).
